Stand up for the victims, families of terrorism

In July 2016, we stood in vigil with the Iraqi community in Manchester, to mourn the loss of loved ones in the Karrada terror attack.

This saw over 341 people murdered and over 225 people facing injuries, as a result of ISIS terrorism.

What took place in Karrada, was the second-worst suicide attack, since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The 2007 Al-Qaeda suicide bomb attacks against Iraq's Yazidi community, known as the Yazidi Communities Bombings, witnessed the deaths of over 500 people and caused injuries to over 1,500 people.

The vigil against ISIS terrorism, attracted large numbers and brought together Iraqi's of all religions. Manchester is home to 18.000 Iraqi's, who represent Iraq's Arabs, Assyrians, Kurds, Turkmen, Mandaeans, Jews, Yazidi's and Shabaks.

Today, the UN is marking the first International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism. In 2017 alone, nearly three-quarters of all deaths caused by terrorism, were in five countries. This includes Iraq.

The Iraq Solidarity Campaign is the only British-Iraqi organisation, that brings together a diversity of voices in the fight against terrorism. We stand with all victims and are proud to support the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.
