“Show me a family of readers, and I will show you the people who move the world”

The Wood Street Mission’s Books Forever Appeal runs throughout the year. By collecting donations of books, Manchester’s Wood Street Mission distribute brand new books to children and young people through their Family Basics programme and school based Book Roadshows.

The AMAR International Charitable Foundation also run the School for Orphans which is located in Basra, Iraq. The school has modern facilities and provides a broad curriculum, allowing children to get the best start in life.

Join Sile Martin and Hussein Al-alak as they talk about books on Manchester’s Radio Offbeat. Let’s talk about what we’re reading and how this can have an incredible impact on our lives. It was J.B. Priestley who wrote in An Inspector Calls; “We don’t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other.“
