Juma Kitchen brings eastern flavours to the UK

Philip Juma makes no secret of his desire to introduce Iraqi food to the world. In addition to showcasing the cuisine’s rich flavours, Philip wants to show a different side to the war-torn country.

The half-British, half-Iraqi Philip Juma, 34, has spent the past four years cooking at JUMA Kitchen, his proudly Iraqi supper club in London. He hopes that his signature dishes will take centre stage across the United Kingdom and the Arab world.

Philip has taken his experiences from London’s contemporary, restaurant scene and translated them onto the plate of traditional Iraqi dishes; using modern cooking techniques and Michelin flair, while staying true to Iraq's culinary heritage.

Philip is full-time in the kitchens of JUMA, while also writing a fortnightly, food column for The Evening Standard Magazine. He is equipped with a diverse experience of the hospitality world, which will also be of benefit as JUMA Kitchen expands.
