Iraq concerned for lifting arms embargo on Syrian opposition

The Iraqi government expressed, today, its grave concern for lifting arms embargo on Syrian opposition, according to a decision taken by the European Union. 

In a press statement, Premier Nouri al-Maliki expressed Iraq concern of the increasing arming pace in the region, which "will affect the security and stability of the country". 

He added that these weapons will be smuggled inside Iraq through Nusra and Qaeda organizations. 

The European Union decided last week to lift the embargo on Syrian opposition. Iraq repeatedly called for political solution in Syria. The Iraqi-Syrian borders extend to 600 kilometers.
