The Iraqi government on Tuesday (February 12th) announced it will build 10 orphanages for Iraqi children who lost their parents in terrorist operations.

The project will cost 12 billion dinars ($10.3 million) and "the new orphanages will be built using modern designs and furnished according to the latest international standards", said Salam al-Quraishi, economic advisor to the Iraqi government.

The government will provide the children with sleeping quarters, meals, clothes and education, he said, adding that most of the children who will live in the homes suffer from extremely difficult circumstances and some are even homeless.

Iraqi companies will begin work in early March and aim to complete the project within 180 days.
