Ezra’s Tomb - the shrine of shared truth

These pictures of Ezra’s Tomb in Iraq, provide a fascinating insight into Iraqi-Jewish history; demonstrating the need to preserve and safeguard the ties which bind us together as a people.

The trauma caused by displacement can never be undone but we can reduce its long-term impact. When we reach within ourselves to discover our humanity, it allows us to reach out to children and remind them of their own resilience.

We need to take proactive measures to prevent a psychosocial crisis—a pandemic that may be more silent and more deadly than the global COVID-19 pandemic. Children need to feel safe to regain their voices and make meaning out of the pain they endure.

If you could walk in the footsteps of strangers or if walls could speak their truth, then Ezra’s Tomb would keep on echoing throughout the centuries. Not all wounds from war and acts of terrorism are visible, and trauma can make or break us as a community.
