A petition has been launched demanding an unequivocal statement on the status of EU citizens living and working in the UK. Think-tank British Future says that a clear commitment is needed - from the government, politicians of all parties and from the British people – that this is their home and they continue to be welcome here.
It calls on the government to make clear that its policy will be to protect the rights of EU citizens living and working in the UK and to seek reciprocal arrangements for UK citizens in other EU countries.
“Both current EU migrants in Britain and British migrants living in other EU countries should be able to continue to live and work in those countries”, says British Future.
