Taking on trauma, join March in March for Combat Stress

All through next month, Hussein Al-alak will be doing a 10 mile journey across Manchester, in support of veterans mental health care, with all proceeds going to the British charity Combat Stress.

I'd like to give a massive thank you to Radio Offbeat, on Manchester's ALLFM, for giving me the time on Thursday, February 10th, to talk about getting involved with March in March for the mental health charity Combat Stress. I'm really delighted that £185.00 has been raised so far and this will go direct to Combat Stress.

Combat Stress is one of Britain's oldest mental health charities and was founded in 1919. It was established to support World War One veterans who suffered from conditions like shell shock. Since then, it has provided medical assistance to veterans from every conflict and every UK military service - including the Merchant Navy.

Before the National Health Service was launched in 1948, three organizations were founded to provide veteran care. St. Dunstan's (now Blind Veterans UK) was launched in 1915, Combat Stress in 1919 and the Royal British Legion in 1921. Since then, organizations like Combat Stress have continued to serve Britain's ex-forces community by providing life changing support when it's needed the most.
