Thousands speak out against Tony Blair's new year honour

Tony Blair is to be knighted with the highest possible ranking in the new year honours list, Buckingham Palace has said. But over 120.000 people have now put their signatures to a petition, calling for Tony Blair to be stripped of his knighthood from Queen Elizabeth 2nd.

The petition states, the former British Prime Minister "was personally responsible for causing the deaths of countless innocent, civilian lives and servicemen in various conflicts. For this alone he should be held accountable for war crimes."

Tony Blair was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, when his government decided to invade Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. He also remains a member of the British Labour Party, which until recently, was led by Jeremy Corbyn. Today, the Labour Party is led by Sir. Keir Starmer.
