Iraq Campaign calls on people to remember terror victims

The United Nations have announced, that the 21st August 2018 - will mark the first International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism

While more countries are affected by terrorism today, the number of victims has largely been concentrated in a small number of UN Member States.

In 2017 alone, nearly three-quarters of all deaths caused by terrorism were in just five countries: Afghanistan, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria and Iraq.

Victims of terrorism continue to struggle to have their voices heard and often feel forgotten or neglected, once the aftermath of a terrorist incident fades from public attention. This can have profound consequences for them.

Victims can only recover from their trauma, with physical, political, psychological and financial support.By observing the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, this act represents a major step forward.

The Iraq Solidarity Campaign welcomes this step by the international community and calls on people and organisations, to observe this day. Please join us and give a voice to those, who have suffered the most from terrorism.

When ISIS invaded large parts of Iraq in 2014, Iraqi Christians were given three choices: leave, convert or die! The homes of Iraqi Christians were daubed with "Noun" - to mark them out as Nazarene.

In cooperation with the Church in Iraq, Aid to the Church in Need established the Nineveh Reconstruction Committee in 2017, "To enable Iraqi Christians who wish to return home to villages in the Nineveh Plains and to do so in safety, as well as security."
