Zenit outclass Iraqi Olympians


Zenit's top scorer Aleksandr Kerzhakov has netted the winner as the Russian champions beat the Iraqi Olympic team 2-1 in a friendly Match World Cup tournament in Dubai.Just eight minutes in, Roman Shirokov fed in a long cross for Aleksandr Bukharov to open for the St. Petersburg side. The tall striker was making amends after missing an earlier chance, 1-0.However, a careless back pass and a quick counter-attack early in the second half saw the Iraqis pull level, 1-1.

But 15 minutes later, Zenit found the game-winning goal. Danko Lazovic chipped in a cross for Kerzhakov to lob the ball over the confused goalkeeper to settle the final score of 2-1.The win allowed Zenit to book a place in the final of the friendly tournament, scheduled for Monday.The St. Pete have just returned from holidays, beginning their preparations for February’s clashes with Benfica in the UEFA Champions League playoffs.
