The Guardian and other media outlets have recently reported, that children of refugees and asylum seekers are receiving lessons in hotel car parks in the UK city of Manchester because no places have been found at local schools. This includes children from Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.
Dr Rhetta Moran, a founder of RAPAR - Refugee and Asylum Seeker Participatory Action Research, is calling on the Manchester City Council to address the problem urgently. Moran said: “Many of these children have been victims of war and persecution", and said these children were being failed by the system.
