No child left behind. Support AMAR's work with disabled children in Romania

In the Calvary Chapel of the Holy Name Church in Manchester, an icon of the Mother of Tenderness is on permanent display. The icon was commissioned in 2016, following Aid to the Church in Need's "One Night for Religious Freedom" vigil for Iraqi Christians in 2015.

This icon was painted in Eastern Europe and its design is based on one, which belonged to my good friend Maggie Fleming from Manchester, who helped to run an orphanage in Romania, along with providing outreach support in neighbouring Moldova.

Maggie worked with Romania's children, providing them with love, until her death from breast cancer in 2002. The Mother of Tenderness icon is on public display at the Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, in memory of Maggie Fleming and her efforts with these children.

Today, the AMAR Foundation are safeguarding the welfare of disabled children in Romania, while also assisting children with disabilities, who have fled fighting in the Ukraine. Since the start of the crisis, support has poured in but we still need your help to meet all of their needs.
