Iraqi poetry strikes a London chord for AMAR

On Thursday 25th July, the AMAR Foundation celebrated the work of three Iraqi poets, at the Poetry Society Cafe Theatre, in London's Covent Garden.

It was an informal evening of poetry and conversation, where the three published poets recited and discussed their work with the audience, which was then followed by more general conversation.

Each of the poets, explained how their poems explored a number of theme's from Iraq and the wider Middle East region, while touching on subjects like religion and love.

The event was organised to support the AMAR Foundation's ongoing efforts in Iraq. As a charity, AMAR was founded in the early 1990's, by Britain's Baroness Emma Nicholson.
