Iraqi-Mandaean artist features in Apollo 11 exhibition

To celebrate 50 years of the Apollo 11 moon-landing, last weekend the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in Liverpool, Australia, presented the exhibition Under the Same Moon - which featured “The Sailors of Darkness” - a sculpture by Iraqi-Mandaean artist Yuhana Nashmi.

Under the Same Moon captured various cultural beliefs, myths and legends related to the moon. The exhibition presented artists from different backgrounds and was the only Apollo 11 anniversary event, to feature Iraq's ancient Mandaean religion. You can hear Yuhana Nashmi speak about his sculpture "The Sailors of Darkness" on SBS Australia.
