The Arab American National Museum and a Detroit ensemble are teaming up for evening of music by composers with Middle Eastern roots.
The Dearborn museum will host the Oct. 19 concert by the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings.
The program features chamber works by Suad Bushnaq, Mohammed Fairouz, Michael Ibrahim and others.
The performance is called "Khashb (KHASH'-ub) wa Kheit (KHATE)," which means wood and strings. Organizers say they believe this is the first contemporary chamber music concert consisting entirely of music by living Arab-American composers.
The music blends instruments and styles from both western and Middle Eastern traditions. The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. with a composer panel, followed by the 8 p.m. performance. Tickets are $15, or $10 for museum members.
