#TeamAMAR is coming to a British city near you

This year, Team AMAR will be taking on the Virgin Sport British 10K, the Manchester Half-Marathon, the Bristol Half-Marathon, the Henley 10K trail and the Thames Bridges Challenge (a 25 kilometre walk along the River Thames).

AMAR CEO Richard Crow led by example, lacing up his running shoes for the British 10K in 2016: “It was great fun”, he said, “AMAR only puts forward a small team for events, meaning that there is a really friendly team spirit. I sincerely hope that people throughout the UK will sign up to make this another great summer for Team AMAR."

“The atmosphere of the British 10K was pretty amazing”, said Mysa Kafil-Hussain who joined the same run in 2013, “There was a really positive, festival-like, feeling to the event. It was tough but it was rewarding to know that I was raising both funds and awareness for AMAR’s amazing work.”

Mysa is just one member of the ever-growing Team AMAR. By signing up for one of these events, you’ll join a community of AMAR supporters who are ready to challenge themselves in support of AMAR’s work in Iraq and Lebanon.

Reasons to join #TeamAMAR

The AMAR Foundation is a British based charity, who since 1991 have been working with displaced people across Iraq. For over quarter of a century, the AMAR Foundation has been at the fore-front of “rebuilding” the lives of some of the most vulnerable people, whilst training and employing local Iraqi’s to lead the way.

When the crisis broke out in 2014, the AMAR Foundation rose to the many challenges that were being faced, by the entire Iraqi population. As a charity, they continue to support the Iraqi people in area’s often ignored in times of conflict and like with any charity, often rely upon the generosity of the public to carry out their work.

As humanitarian crises are rarely short-lived, often continuing for many years, AMAR takes a long term view based on an assessment for recovery from each individual crisis. Where this recovery is not measured in days and weeks, but months and years, AMAR also refurbishes and builds facilities to enable the provision of vital services such as health and education.
