UN announces killing and wounding of 29,000 Iraqis in 2015

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) has announced the killing and wounding of more than 29 thousand Iraqis during 2015, as a result of terrorist attacks and violence in the country. 

The UNAMI said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, that “11,118 Iraqis had been killed, and 18,419 others were wounded, as a result of bombings and acts of different violence that took place mostly in the capital Baghdad and the northern and western provinces of the country.” 

The statement added, “February, May, June, July and August of 2015 recorded more than half of the number of dead and wounded, totaling 6257 dead and 9570 injured people, mostly as a result of detonating booby-trapped vehicles and improvised explosive devices as well as suicide attacks according to the United Nations statistics.”
