Iraq attacks journalists

The Journalistic Freedoms Observatory expressed on Wednesday its concern and condemnation over the attacks against journalists throughout Iraq, including Kurdistan, asserting that 160 attacks against them have occurred over the past two weeks."A total of 160 attacks took place against journalists throughout the country, including 60 in Kurdistan region," the JFO said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

"Security authorities waged a big campaign on media institutions in Baghdad and other provinces, and arrested journalists and ceased al-Diyar satellite channel," the statement added.Founded in 2004, the JFO is an independent organization that aims to monitor violations and acts of aggression against media workers in the country.
