Reaching for the high note. IWD appeal for Iraq’s Yazidi choir

On March 8th, women around the world will celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). This year also has added meaning for Iraq’s Yazidi women, who will be marking 10 years since the Yazidi Genocide.

An appeal has been launched to show solidarity with the AMAR Foundation’s Ashti Choir, which is made up of Yazidi survivors. The choir was founded in 2019 and all of those involved are still residing in displacement camps in Iraq.

The choir has performed in the U.K and AMAR has also recorded Yazidi music, giving these to Oxford’s Bodleian Library to archive for future generations. For more information on the choir please contact the AMAR Foundation or call 0207 799 2217.
