Iconic Manchester statue explores rebuilding lives after war

There are now over 50 pieces of photography on display at AMARFolio and included among them is ‘Victory Over Blindness’. All images on AMARFolio are taken by supporters of the AMAR Foundation. In 2018, Blind Veterans UK commemorated 100 years since the end of the First World War by unveiling the iconic ‘Victory Over Blindness’ statue at the entrance to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station.

Its name 'Victory Over Blindness’, was a declaration used by the charity’s founder Sir Arthur Pearson and it continues to guide the organization’s principles today. The statue of seven blinded soldiers, is a testament to the thousands of blind veterans the charity have supported, in the ongoing efforts of Blind Veterans UK, to rebuild lives after sight loss.
