By collecting donations of books, Wood Street Mission distributes them to children and young adults through their family basics programme and schools based book roadshows.
WSM organizes book roadshows within Manchester’s schools and throughout the year, Wood Street Mission engages directly with children and young adults up to age 16, so they can choose the books that they want to read.
One book which always inspires conversation is The Odyssey by Homer and it's described by Waterstones as being “an unquestionable cornerstone of Western literature.”
Confronted by ship-wrecks, battles, monsters and the implacable enmity of the sea-god Poseidon - Odysseus must use his bravery and cunning, to reach his homeland and overcome the obstacles that, even there, await him.
The Odyssey is the epic tale of Odysseus and his ten-year journey home after the Trojan War. The Odyssey also forms one of the earliest, and greatest works of Western literature.
Donating to Wood Street Mission's Books Forever Appeal couldn’t be easier and you can drop a book off in person or have it delivered direct to Wood Street Mission, 26 Wood Street, Manchester, M3 3EF, The UK.
