“Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” The 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Turkey and north-west Syria has left over 21,000 dead and counting.
A UK wide appeal to help the victims has so far raised over £52 million for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s (DEC) fund, helping 14 British charities respond to the disaster.
DEC charities and their local partners are among the first responders providing urgent help.
Immediate priorities are search and rescue, medical treatment for the injured, shelter for those who have lost their homes, warm clothes and ensuring people have food and clean water.
