Join the #50MileChallenge for Iraq

The Iraq Solidarity Campaign is proud to announce its support for the latest initiative of ACN Scotland, who are calling on people to join them, for the 50 Mile Challenge

On 6th Aug 2014, the Nineveh Plain was overrun by ISIS forces, where Iraqi Christians had to flee their homes and walk an average of 50 miles, to reach safety in Northern Iraq.

As part of the 50 Mile Challenge, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) are encouraging people to consider walking, rowing, running or even cycling in solidarity with people in Iraq - who made the 50 mile journey in 2014.

Along with the 50 Mile Challenge, Aid to the Church in Need UK - North West Region, will also be taking on their final sponsored Walks for Iraq, in the middle of September. This will see Caroline and Bridget, walk from Wrexham to Shrewsbury Cathedral.

Both of these events, are being organised by the UK section of Aid to the Church in Need, an international Catholic charity, who in 2017, launched the Nineveh Reconstruction Committee in Iraq.

The aim of both fundraising events, is to "enable Iraqi Christians who wish to return home to villages in the Nineveh Plains, where they have lived for centuries, and to do so in dignity, safety, as well as security."

At present, ACN are supporting around 120,000 displaced Iraqi Christians, with material and spiritual aid, along with helping to rebuild homes, Churches and entire communities - that were devastated by ISIS in 2014.

We would like to encourage people to get involved with the 50 Mile Challenge and support Caroline and Bridget on their sponsored walks for Iraq. Please help our brothers and sisters in Iraq, by contributing to ACN's work.
